The Paseo del Arte,
without the crowds.

Three museums, one walk. Hours, prices and the right way to see them.

The short answer

Madrid’s three great museums sit within a 15-minute walk of each other on the Paseo del Arte: the Prado (Velázquez, Goya, El Bosco), the Thyssen-Bornemisza (eight centuries of European painting) and the Reina Sofía (Picasso’s Guernica).

How to see them well

Go at opening time, not during the free hours, which are the busiest. Choose one museum per morning; two hours in the Prado with a private guide shows you more than a whole day alone. Many museums also accept private visits outside public hours for a group, on request and subject to their programme; we ask on your behalf.
