Guide · Saving
A cheaper private jet,
honestly.
There is no such thing as a cheap private jet, but the same flight can cost very different amounts. These are the levers that actually move the price.
- Fly an empty leg. The largest saving. When an aircraft repositions, the operator sells that one-way leg below the charter price; brokers advertise discounts of up to 75%. The catch: the route and time come from someone else’s trip.
- Choose the smallest aircraft that fits. A light jet costs roughly a third of a heavy jet per hour. For flights under two hours within Spain, a light jet is usually enough.
- Fill the seats. You pay for the aircraft, not the seat. Madrid–Ibiza at €4,000–€6,100 becomes €500–€800 per person with 8 travelling.
- Be flexible on day and time. Peak days (Thursday to Monday in island season) cost more and have fewer aircraft. A mid-week flight or a day either side can change the price and opens more empty legs.
- Fly from where the aircraft is. Positioning is billed. Departing from a base where aircraft are parked, such as Madrid, avoids paying for the aircraft to reach you.
- Plan the return honestly. If you return within a day or two, keeping the aircraft can be cheaper than two empty positioning legs; for longer stays, two one-way flights usually win. Ask for both.
- Watch the route instead of searching once. Empty legs appear and vanish within days. A route watch catches the one that fits.

Before you fly
A few good questions.
What is the cheapest way to fly private?
An empty leg on a light jet with every seat filled.
Can I buy a single seat?
Some services sell seats on shared flights. Madrid Privé arranges the whole aircraft, which you can share with your own group.
